Based in our head office in Lyngby, Denmark, you will report to the Project Controls Manager and ensure invoice and cost controlling is properly performed in the Projects team.

Key responsibilities:

As Invoice and Cost Controller, you will be responsible for the cost controlling on the projects in close corporation with the Projects team. Further you will be responsible for the independent control of complex supplier invoices on the projects.

You will participate in the forecasting process based on progress and project performance. You will also participate in the weekly and monthly project performance reporting in close cooperation with the Project Controller. You will be responsible for budget updates in Pims (Maersk Decom’s project management system) based on the invoice and cost controlling and the input from the Projects team. This includes ensuring correct accounting in IFS (Maersk Decom’s ERP system).

The invoice controlling includes setting the standard for checking rates and prices against the contracts, actually completed work, personnel days, equipment rental days or deliveries received against various reporting systems.

You will also create value through ensuring correct creation of purchase orders according to the project budget structure and proactively tracking actions to optimise work processes with suppliers and internal users to make sure that Maersk Decom receives a higher number of correct invoices and implements a shorter and more effective invoice matching process.

Furthermore, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Find solutions to enable payment of disputed invoices in consultation with supplier, requestor, project manager and procurement lead, at all levels of the organization and ensure that corrective actions are taken
  • Process invoices in IFS (Maersk Decom´s ERP system)
  • Prepare and issue procurement requisitions and purchase orders in IFS
  • Update cost reporting data in Pims (Maersk Decom project management system)
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis in Excel


Who we are looking for:

You have at least 2 years’ experience with cost control and how to effectively manage the cost of a project or a similar controlling function and an understanding of invoice controlling. You know the concept behind cost accounting, cost control, change management and cost reporting. You have a good understanding of AACE cost management terminologies or similar, the cost estimating process, and how the cost control function works in a project.

You already possess an understanding of the technical functions of drilling operations and the oil and gas business, or you have an interest and ability to quickly absorb this knowledge which is key to fulfilling the role successfully.

Furthermore, you possess strong communication skills and proficiency in written and spoken English at a business level is a must, as all written communication as well as Maersk Decom reports and contracts are made in English.

Your other qualifications shall include:

  • Understanding of the Oil and Gas industry
  • Experience having worked for a service company and/or an operator in the past
  • Efficient in your own time-management
  • Experienced Microsoft Office user, particularly Excel
  • Experienced user in working in ERP systems such as SAP, IFS, MS NAV or similar
  • Experienced user in working in Project Management systems like Pims or Excel-based tools
